Tidbits / Quotes from the show (sent in from those who attended)
-
"The only
thing I like better then American Democracy is eating"
-
She was
relaxed and truly making the best of it. she had little jokes here and
there. At one point after she finished a song and everyone was cheering
she was walking around and she said "Thank you... it warms me up".
-
"The show
was amazing... the audience went completely nuts!"
-
"Richard
Jay-Alexander (Co-director) is a genius -- her best show yet".
-
Barbra did
say she wanted to visit some historic democratic sites, but instead
stopped at local places to eat.
-
Barbra
used the same introduction for Down With Love from the 67 Central Park
Concert "OK, here's my trick for the evening"
-
Introduced
Harold Arlen as her favorite composer
-
Barbra
talked about writing her own music, and went to the piano to play "Ma
Premiere Chanson" -- but forgot. An audience member then shouted out
"That's OK Barbra", in which she replied "Ah well, you can't be good at
everything".
-
Barbra
told the audience she was going off stage to get out of her heels, and
to eat some pizza.
-
Barbra
does play ALOT to those seats behind her -- so don't worry if you're
sitting behind the stage. It's all open.
-
Il Divo
opens the second act and they sing "Music Of The Night", in which Barbra
comes onto the stage. She DID hit that amazing note at the end of the
song (Listen to Back To Broadway!)
-
A photo of
her son, Jason - flashed onto the screen as she sang "Carefully Taught /
Children Will Listen".
-
Some
audience members got to ask Barbra questions (by writing on a card,
before the show) -- she picked these out of a bucket, and read their
names and seat sections! (Many screams at that point).
-
Before
singing Woman In The Moon, Barbra told the audience that when she first
sang it in 1975, there wasn't even a woman in the senate -- and now
there could be a woman president!
-
Barbra
kicked her shoes off for 'Don't Rain On My Parade'. "Let's give 'em hell
girl" - she said.
-
The video
screens were on the entire time.
-
One
audience member shouted "Barbra for president", in which she replied
"No, OPRAH for president!"
