BARBRA STREISAND RECORDS THE BIGGEST AUDIENCE EVER FOR BRAVO’S ‘INSIDE THE ACTORS STUDIO’ PREMIERE

THE TWO-HOUR SPECIAL EPISODE ACHIEVES A PREMIERE’S BIGGEST NUMBERS IN THE 10-YEAR HISTORY OF ‘INSIDE THE ACTORS STUDIO,’ ATTRACTING MORE THAN ONE MILLION TOTAL VIEWERS

10TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON SHOWS AN INCREASE IN AUDIENCES 18-49 AND 25-54 AND A 71 PERCENT INCREASE IN HOUSEHOLD RATINGS

New York, NY – March 23, 2004 – This past Sunday’s premiere of “Inside the Actors Studio: Barbra Streisand” garnered the highest ratings of any premiere episode in the 10-year history of Bravo’s signature series. The episode, which featured a rare two-hour conversation with the normally interview-shy actor-producer-singer-director, drew 1.14 million total viewers and a 1.36 household rating, both records for the series.

Streisand’s appearance is a fitting highlight of “Inside the Actors Studio’s” 10th anniversary season, since host James Lipton has been pursuing her as a potential guest since the show’s inception. The March 21 telecast broke series records previously set by Harrison Ford’s appearance in August 2000 by 579,000 total viewers and 0.43 ratings points.

During the 10th Anniversary season, “Inside the Actors Studio” has witnessed a growth in the younger audience demographics. Audience impressions in the 18-49 and 25-54 demographics are up by 40 percent and 30 percent respectively. The series has also generated a 71 percent increase in households.

Eight-time Emmy nominated “Inside the Actors Studio,” which is now seen in 125 countries, was launched in April, 1994 with Academy Award-winning actor and longtime Actors Studio President, Paul Newman. For the past nine years, the Actors Studio Drama School at New School University has opened its doors for a series of evenings featuring more than 160 of contemporary film, theater and television’s most noteworthy contributors who discuss their craft and share the secrets of their artistic achievements.

Bravo, an NBC Cable Network since December 2002, is currently seen in 75 million homes and was the first service dedicated to film and the performing arts when it launched in December 1980.
