It’s always hard for a singer, however talented, to perform songs from The Barbra Streisand book, and to perform them well. Karen Noble did just that.

From the first note of People to the final note of Somewhere – the audience enjoyed a great evening...

Karen was half way through her UK Tour when I saw her perform at Whitley Bay Playhouse tonight. Every part of Barbra’s career covered. Classics such as Evergreen (from Karen’s favorite movie), The Way We Were and People (It was such a joy for Karen to sing this twice, and to dedicate it the second time to myself and BarbraNews.com for all the emails – my pleasure Karen)… Rarities that Barbra never performs live included Enough is Enough, Putting It Together, Memory. High tempo songs included The Main Event and Something’s Coming. Images of Barbra flashed up on the screen above Karen as the audience watched with great joy.

Films such as Funny Girl, A Star Is Born and Yentl were mentioned, and jokes about Ryan O’Neal and James Brolin sent laughter through the audience.

Some people might remember Karen performing as Dusty Springfield last year. That tour is coming back this September. Hopefully we’ll see another Streisand tour in the not so distant future.

Thanks for a wonderful night Karen, it was a pleasure to meet you!
