Barbra's first movie as a director, 'Yentl', will be released onto DVD on November 28th.

The DVD will contain NO extras, unlike the forthcoming DVD which should be released in the US in 2006, which will include many extras.

Yentl (STREISAND) is a young Jewish girl who thirsts for knowledge, a seemingly impossible dream in a society that won’t permit women to study books. Refusing to bow to tradition, she disguises herself as a boy and is accepted by a community of scholars. Here she falls in love with fellow student Avigdor, played by TV’s DEAD LIKE ME’s MANDY PATINKIN, who is himself betrothed to the beautiful Hadass, played by AMY IRVING. When her disapproving parents break off the engagement, however, Avigdor begs his dear friend “Anshel” to marry Hadass in his place. For how much longer can Yentl keep up her deception?
